What’s involved in your average working day?
Lots of things! I provide support for all of our commissioning editors so I do a lot of administration and filing and I help with customer service (I’m a knitter myself, so if you have a question about a pattern you might just be hearing from me). I also process all the reprints, which is fun because I get to look back over old titles. There are also some more glamourous parts: I just went on my first photo shoot, which was really fun, and I’m the guardian of the craft projects in our books while they’re in our care.

What’s the best bit about your job?
Being one of the first people to see the projects and patterns as they come in from authors. We have some great, inspiring designers and it’s always like Christmas when a box of new projects arrives!

What’s your favourite craft and why?
Now that’s a tough one. Cross stitch is soothing, and so I always go back to it when I’m stressed or just want to follow a design step-by-step. When I feel more creative I crochet more; I think of it as a soft sculptural art. But currently I’m a knitting fiend. I don’t know why, but I love the neatness of knitted stitches and I’m hooked on cables.
