What’s involved in your average working day?
I handle marketing and publicity for Collins & Brown crafts and I am happy to say that my days are never the same. I could start off talking with authors, retailers and national/regional press about our titles and finish with intense brainstorming about the best ways to reach our lovely readers. Other days I could find myself at shows listening to what our community needs. I find that this is the best way to get inspiration and create platforms that work perfectly for all the crafty people out there!
What is the best bit about your job?
The best aspect of my job at C&B is that I get to meet and work with truly amazing people from the whole spectrum of the publishing chain; from authors, the Anova team, journalists, magazine and newspaper editors to designers. Something else that I really cherish is the fact that I have to research new digital trends and platforms. Experimentation with new media keeps me always on my toes!
What is your favourite craft and why?
Just like Amy, I try to make my own clothes. I have my own sewing machine but the result sometimes is more of a UCO (Unidentified Clothing Object). So far I am very proud of my creations even if I have to justify why my jacket has one sleeve or why my skirt looks like a wannabe shirt. I keep my chin up, call it design and try again!
